An Invitation to Worship Together This Holy Week

Since Ash Wednesday, our Sunday services have explored the Apostles Creed and these phrases drawn from it: “God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth;” “Jesus Christ, God’s Only Son, our Lord”; “the Holy Spirit”; “the holy Christian Church”; and “the forgiveness of sins.”

Meanwhile, Lenten Wednesday night Evensongs have “reflected on tenets of the Reformation that resulted from people questioning their church’s teachings five hundred years ago. These tenets— Scripture alone, Grace alone, Faith alone, Christ alone, and To God be the glory— continue to influence us and our Baptist traditions.”

Now it’s time to focus our month-readied attention on Holy Week, from Palm Sunday through what we commemorate and celebrate as Christ’s Resurrection. To help us experience these events as one, we offer this booklet of personal reflections and stories from ten members of our congregation plus the scripture verses that inspired their thoughts.

My thanks to everyone who has contributed to the making of this booklet, especially Connie McNeill, our pastor Jason Edwards, each devotional writer, and my co-editor and graphic designer, Janet Hill.

Reading together, we believe together. Read on!
