CHILDCARE DURING WORSHIP
Whether you attend worship at 8:30 a.m. or 11:00 a.m., you have the option of leaving your infant or preschooler in our nursery and preschool ministry.
OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE OUR YOUNGEST HEARTS

Karri George
2011-12 Extended Session Coordinator
Meet our new Extended Session Coordinator!
Karri George has volunteered to coordinate our extended session childcare and I want you to get to know her. Karri and her husband, John, joined Second Baptist in January. They have three adorable redheaded children: Avery, Amelia, and Archer. Karri will be calling and emailing you about volunteering, and because I want you to say “Yes” when she does, let me tell you more about this volunteer opportunity.
WHAT IS EXTENDED SESSION
Extended Session is what we call the childcare available for preschoolers during the 11:00 a.m. worship service each Sunday. When a family comes to Second, our preschool wing is ready to serve. From infants to pre-kindergarten kiddos, that hour is filled with care and activities.
Our greatest desire is for children to feel safe while they are here and for parents to feel comfortable leaving their children in our care.
WHAT SERVING MEANS
When you come to the preschool area on Sunday mornings to serve in extended session, you would serve in one of three rooms: babies, toddlers/twos, threes/pre-k. Depending on the age you choose to work with, you might be rocking an infant, reading a book to a toddler, building a tower with a four-year-old, or changing a diaper! It’s such fun to be a part of a two-year-old who is “cooking” a meal for you or dancing to a song on the tape player! Sometimes a child might be sad because this is his first experience with us and workers can provide comfort to that little one. There will always be another worker in the room with you. You might have three or four babies in your room and up to ten kiddos in the older rooms. Our rooms are stocked with toys, games, books, and manipulatives that will help the hour pass smoothly.
WHY SERVE
Sociologists agree that the primary factor for determining success in a person’s life is having at least one adult involved in their young life who doesn’t have to be there. There is no pay involved and you can come to church every week and never step foot in the preschool area. However, if every adult reading this article would commit to spending one hour in our preschool for extended session, our program would thrive.
What an opportunity for you to get to know new families and introduce yourself to the “future” of our church! Often, youth will also volunteer to work with an adult and they can provide great energy and enthusiasm during that hour as well.
SAYING YES
Karri will be recruiting six volunteers for each Sunday. Our goal is to get enough volunteers so that each team only serves three to four Sundays each year.
If you would like to say “YES” right now, simply email her at karri.george@gmail.com and she will put you on the list. Or, if you are curious about what your responsibilities would be, you may email her with any questions. You are also welcome to email me at gphillips@2bcliberty.org with any questions also.
VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION
On August 28, from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m., there will be an orientation for volunteers. Mark your calendars and plan to join us that afternoon.
No, you don’t have to get involved. But, what a difference you can make in the lives of our children when you do.
*Special Note: A HUGE thank you goes out to Erin Hilton. She has served as our Volunteer Coordinator with a smile on her face for years and we appreciate so much all she has done. We bless her to step aside now and enjoy child her new son, Zane!
