Welcome to MOPS@2BC!
(Click here for a printable overview)
I am glad you that you have found
us. We are currently gathering contact information of moms who are
interested in a Mothers of Preschool group, especially here at Second
Baptist. Please click here and let us know your key information (name and how best to reach you). We will be in touch with
you!
Our schedule of 2011-12 meetings is listed at the bottom of this page.
Our group is lively and fun. We have been a ministry
at Second Baptist for 7 years and have grown into a group that focuses on many
different mothering needs, including a classic MOPS group, a Special Needs
Support Group, and a MOMSnext group for moms with kids in grade school and
beyond. We enjoy celebrating with one another during the high times and
supporting one another during the low times.
We hope that you find the mothering community that you are
looking for and that it is hopefully at Second Baptist Church.
I am eager to find out more about you and your family. More information
is on the link below.
God Bless you and your family!

Thank you
for your interest in Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) at Second Baptist
Church (2BC). The MOPS@2BC ministry is entering into its 10th
year! Amazing! You have found out about MOPS from a current
member, from church literature, or from someone who wants you to find a
supportive community of moms. This
letter will help you take the first step to get familiar with MOPS@2BC.
We are
hoping you can and will be a part of it.
MOPS is a Christian based group for all moms of “preschoolers”
(including ages 0 through your youngest child completing kindergarten). We have monthly meetings from September –
May. Our meeting dates are on page 2 of
this letter for your reference. During
our monthly meetings you will find a warm, yummy brunch, time with other moms,
creative activities to inspire you, speakers to spark a new thing or two,
supportive prayer time and a safe, wonderful environment for your child(ren).
Our group
has usually has 82 members each year. This
year we have expanded to 99 so far. (YES!
That is a lot but each member is assigned a “home” table for the year to
insure interaction and community) Our members range in age from 24 to 40+. We have moms that have flexible work
schedules, stay-at-home, and have home- based business. Our group of moms represents over 200
kids! So we are busy women and
mommas. We also have 12 Mentor Moms.
These women are further down the mothering path and give us support, kindness
and a great laugh or two. It is a nice
change of pace to talk to someone who eats warm meals, sleeps through the night
and is ready to give back to moms who need her experience.
This year our theme is
MomSense: Bold • Loving • Sensible – equips moms to embrace their
mothering instincts and develop their own parenting style while navigating
through the myriad of daily mom decisions. Most women wonder:
How do I decide what to do when I really don’t
know what to do?
Should I trust my intuition? With so much available information, how do I
discern what’s best?
What are the most important family values?
We will incorporate this
theme with the use of table names, speaker topics, and activities. During our year we will also have special
events for the whole family, plus small group outings and dinners. Come to as many as you like. These are created for you to meet more
members and make friendships outside our regular MOPS meeting time.
All sounds
good so far, so what does it cost? Our
fees support MOPS International further it’s global ministry mission to have
“No Mom Alone”. Every member pays the
$23.95 MOPS Int’l fee before their first meeting. Then our monthly meeting fee is $7.25 payable
to MOPS. This supports our events, meetings,
etc. for the year. The total for all 9
months of dues is $65.25. This can be
paid all at once, by semester or monthly. Each month is due even if you miss.
(our childcare is an additional fee if spots are available)
If you need
MOPS, but know that it is a financial burden or reach, please let us work with
you. We have scholarships available and
we keep all requests confidential. We
are here to support, so that No Mom is Alone.
In my seven
years of MOPS@2BC, I have seen a little bit of everything. I had no idea that joining a group on a whim
and a prayer, I would open myself to being real and supportive with other
moms. I have seen the MOPS@2BC women
gather in prayer and support in the good and bad times. And I have found friendships that will never
waiver. If you don’t find that at
MOPS@2BC, I pray you find it somewhere.
YOU DESERVE IT!
Now
what? Please return the enclosed forms ASAP, so we can work on placing you. Currently our childcare is completely full
with almost 100 kids already. Spaces in childcare are always in demand. If you have “alternate childcare”
(preschool/pdo/a relative or friend who can have your little one(s)) during
meeting, please let me know that as well.
We are always able to place moms that can find alternate care. By making that choice, you open up more spots
to accommodate more children for moms who may not have a support system in the
area. And if you have alternate care we
are usually able to place you in a mom spot.
We are
excited to get to know you. Our goals
this year include an emphasis on finding, supporting, and giving our moms a
true mom community. We hope to include
you in that. MOPS is what you make
it. We do our best to provide and
cultivate an environment of support and you have to do you part.
Step One: Fill out the enclosed paperwork ASAP
(our next meeting is 10/7)
Step Two: Mail it ASAP to Kristin Wooldridge
(address listed below in bold)
Step Thee: Wait for a phone call from the
Coordinator on placement (either at a table or on our wait list)
Step Four: If
you are placed on our wait list, we will contact you if spots become
available. And we are so sorry to
have to have a
list at all.
Thanks for
your time, interest and help! Looking
forward to seeing you at MOPS@2BC!
I am really looking
forward to coordinating my 6th year!
Thanks and
Blessings,
