What to Expect

Let us introduce ourselves...

What to expect on Sunday Mornings

There is ample parking in either the church lot (at the corner of Lightburne and Franklin at the northeast corner of the church) or in the Juvenile Justice Center lot on the south side of Kansas Street. Our Welcome Center sits just inside the south (Kansas St.) entrance where you'll find greeters, our coffee bar, and friendly faces to help you get acquainted with options and locations of services.

At 2BC, you'll find a wide range of attire. From “Sunday best” to jeans and tennis shoes, all are welcome.  It doesn't matter to us what you wear; we're just happy you're here.

Services feature a traditional worship style with a relevant and contemplative sermon style. Pastor Jason is a dynamic preacher who always delivers a fresh message that makes you think about your faith, Christ, and God in new and interesting ways. (Yes, we've been known to play with Legos, watch a clip from "How to Train your Dragon," and hear quotes from reality TV in worship!)

Our worship music features a beautiful organ and grand piano which accompany our 11:00 a.m. service and a robed choir that adds meaning and grace to our worship through song.  And you'll often find a small orchestra during key Christian seasons such as Lent and Advent. The old-time favorite hymns and more current hymns add to a meaningful and rich worship experience through music.

On Sunday mornings, you can find small group classes for all ages. Our children, student, and adult ministries offer great options for getting connected to others here at Second from 9:45-10:45 a.m. every week. The Welcome Center hosts can help you navigate the options and the building to find a good fit. Let us know you'll be joining us, and we'll have a personal host ready and waiting in the Welcome Center to meet you.

Community Groups

Purpose

Our Community Groups Ministry exists to help people grow deeper in relationship with God and each other to minister more effectively in the world. As such, community groups are a key element in our Faith Formation goal. A diverse number and style of groups make up our Community Group Ministry, and we see these groups as a vital ingredient in overall adult growth and spiritual formation.

We offer a variety of ways you can connect with others and grow in your faith through in-depth studies in addition to our weekly services.  Explore our community group opportunities and see how  you might get plugged into a covenant group, study group, or activity group. The Christ life has always been a common life. Our dream is that with each passing day, we will see and know and experience this life that can be fully embodied only in community.
