... a thrilling and hopeful life...kinda like Advent on steroids! by Steve Hemphill
When Paul wrote this letter to Rome, he knew my needs today. I am writing these thoughts while 8,000+ miles from home but, my heart is back in Liberty. I’ve just learned my dear friend from college (and ever since) was defeated in her fight against cancer. Paul told the believers in Rome their troubles were inconsequential when compared to what awaits them in eternity. That makes for a thrilling and hopeful life...kinda like Advent on steroids!
I’ve known folks who would describe the glories of Heaven with great specificity and certainty. Some claim to have had a vision of Heaven. But, Paul clearly states it takes little faith to believe in something already seen. Real faith is in the “yet to be revealed.” The fact is nobody knows what Heaven will be like... and if someone tries to tell you they do... feel free to laugh in their face! We do know it will be spent with our Creator, and that’s a lot better than our current status! We can safely assume that cancer and all other maladies of the earth will be absent. Let’s not spend time contemplating things absent from Heaven, but rather concentrate on the fact we will be ‘repossessed’ by our Creator. What more do we need? For me, I’m pretty sure Heaven will involve a beach and chocolate chip cookies... but, I’m open to being surprised.
